MONDAY, JUNE 09

🇨🇳 China’s Inflation Rate YoY

Measures how much consumer prices have increased compared to the same month last year.

📰 Actual: -0.1%

🚨 Why it matters for Gold

China is the biggest consumer of Gold, its inflation data can directly impact XAU/USD by influencing Gold demand, monetary policy, and global market sentiment.

📈 Higher-than-expected inflation

  • → 🟢 Inflation hedge demand rises → More investors turn to Gold.

  • → 🟡 Weaker CNY → Gold becomes cheaper in China, but USD may strengthen, limiting XAU/USD upside.

  • → 🟢 Stagflation fears (high inflation + weak growth) → Boosts Gold’s safe-haven appeal.

  • → 🔴 Tighter monetary policy risk → May pressure Gold.

📉 Lower-than-expected inflation → signals weak demand

  • → 🔴 Less need for Gold as an inflation hedge → Demand could drop.

  • → 🟡 PBoC easing (rate cuts, liquidity injections) → Stocks may rise, but CNY weakening could support Gold.

  • → 🟢 If rate cuts signal financial distress → Investors may rush to Gold as a safe haven.
